A new career..maybe even for ‘Nicolas Cage’!
You simply cannot make this stuff up.
A friend of mine, and fellow HR professional, is recruiting for a security-sensitive position in a law-enforcement related capacity. This position requires someone who will be responsible for coordinating activities between various entities, including the court systems, governmental agencies, etc. As part of the written questionnaire during the application process, the candidates are asked to answer some questions designed to clarify their specific level of experience.
When asked to “Describe your education, training, and experience in the planning and coordination of interagency and external agency activities and relationships,” Applicant A wrote:
“Not alot but i have planned to have both a prisoner on board an aircraft
along with a member of the supriem court”
Which prompted my friend to ask me – “Who is this guy? Nicolas Cage in ‘Con-Air?’
And we laughed and laughed.

The reality is, however, that a lot of job seekers can use some support, assistance and guidance through the career evaluation or job search process. Needless to say, our wanna-be Nic Cage needs a tad more than others.
Last night on HR Happy Hour, we had a lively discussion about the upcoming online Career Summit. From the creative minds at New Media Services, and two of the most awesome people I know, Mark Stelzner and Laurie Ruettimann, comes this great event for people searching for a job or a new career. You can attend live sessions that begin October 26th and run through November 17th, and will have access to an incredible array of topics, talented career experts, and access to the live AND archived content. Check out the site for info – early bird pricing is good through Sunday.
I wish I had the name and contact info for Nicolas Cage 2.0 so I could sign him up.
